March First Sunday Program - The Civilian Conservation Corps - Jobs, Revitalization, Military Training

 The Civilian Conservation Corps

put more than

3 million young men to work

in the nation's forests,

parks, and farms:

planting trees,

creating flood barriers,

fighting fires,

and building roads and trails.

Corps workers lived in camps under quasi-military discipline

and received a wage of $30 per month,

$25 of which they were required to send home to their families

which in turn helped to boost local economies.

Come learn more about a New Deal program

that was seen as a win-win

for the United States and its citizens

through the Great Depression and into World War II.

Our First Sunday program is on Sunday, March 4th will begin at 2 p.m.

Refreshments will be served following the program.

There is no charge for admittance.

Abraham Lincoln

before he became

our 16th President.

 In our current world

it takes money,

and a lot of it,

to become president.

What formed the man

who was raised in poverty

and yet developed the character

to later keep the Union together

during a time of

great development and turmoil?
